So i thought i would try and show our general meeting costs, these cost are not 100% accurate but you should get the genuine feel for our struggles.

What it costs and why

Tyres: To see a weekend out and be as competitive as we can, we currently try and use 1 front and X2 rears whether its wet or dry. On average a dry set (1 front 1 rear) is around £320 with a set of wets being slightly more, around (£340). When we run the test day we can usually run on scrubs from previous races to keep down the costs but as we all fund the racing ourselfs a £320 pound set of tyres every race weekend is abit of a dream! we currently save on tyre changes due to having the tyre machine from MSG in the van so this saves £15 pound per set every time we have tyres changed.

This is where the expense adds up, entry fee is £240 per round, thats 4 races and 1 qualifying and x1 free practice, the racing is also televised on the second day of every meeting and shown on motors TV.

The test day before every round is as little as £130 and as much as £160, this is critical ride time for bike set up and ironing out the issues before the racing begins.

Fuel cost for a race weekend, (2 days racing and 1 day testing) soon adds up. I tend to use as much as £150 pounds worth of petrol, thats fuel for the bike and fuel for the generator.

The van is also a big part of the Fuel bill with a full tank costing £80, but this is also something that is an easier contribution from sponsors with Fuel being easily tax deductable.

So thats a little break down of the cost we have along the way, thats after the bike purchase and repairs we have throughout the year.

Crash damage bills can be massive with just a spray job being close to £400 and crash costs, that worry at the back of your mind is what slows you down, with help in the season this can be forgotten about and racing can really commence!
